Hot Topics in Poker Software for July 14

It's hard to believe that we're halfway through the month of July. The poker software world has been pretty lively despite the North American summer months typically being slow. What have been the hot topics in poker software recently? And how has the poker software forum at PokerSoftware come alive accordingly? Let's find out.

How Do I Make a Poker Video?

One of the first threads we've ever seen asking how to create a poker training video came up in the Software Discussion forum on our site in recent days. The original poster in the thread questioned, "I am interested in making a poker tutorial video, can anybody tell me how I'd go about doing this (from an IT technical point of view)?"

Poker training videos come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Some instructors record action live while they're playing, which gives viewers a unique insight into the real-time decisions that poker pros make.

Others are more versed at editing video and splicing together various hand replays, which allows viewers to see some of the highlights from a session or tournament.

When we produce video reviews of software, we use Camtasia, which has a handy free trial if you want to give it a whirl. Camtasia is relatively easy to use and requires a microphone of some sort in order to record audio. It's a bit pricey if you decide to buy it, but if you're investing in software for recording videos, it's worthwhile to check out.

New Version of Easy Poker Simulator Released

One of the more active software representatives in our forum is "JRS" of Easy Poker Simulator. On the first day of July, "JRS" took to the forum to say, "New version of Easy Poker available. The new technology, which has shown very good results, puts more emphasis on heads-up – you against the computer. To download this trial version, just a simple registration is needed to access the page for exclusive members of the best Texas Hold'em Poker simulator ever developed in Brazil."

Brazil is one of the fastest growing markets in the online poker world, so it's no surprise to see software being developed in the South American nation. Easy Poker Simulator has traditionally received an update every one to two months, with past tweaks being made to bots and statistics.

NoteCaddy Advantage Added to PokerSoftware Recommended Program

One of the newest pieces of software to be added to our Recommended Program is NoteCaddy Advantage. With the program, you can use badges that pop up in your online poker Heads-Up Display, or HUD, to exploit your opponents.

It's not like NoteCaddy Advantage was written by a bunch of poker novices. Instead, as text found in the program's thread here on PokerSoftware explains, "All of our definitions and badges were made by an online professional with over 8 years of experience crushing 6-max NL cash games. He not only has an in-depth understanding of NoteCaddy and Holdem Manager, but also an extensive history in poker and what it takes to succeed."

NoteCaddy Advantage also gives users information on how to exploit players with various badges, which means it should be able to pay for itself several times over.

PartyPoker Mac Software Moves Out of Beta

Finally, Mac players from around the world are rejoicing, as PartyPoker's Mac software is officially out of beta. PartyPoker formerly just offered an Instant Play version that allowed Mac players to compete through a web browser, but the newest downloadable client is a sight for sore eyes for Mac faithful. Cash games and tournaments are available in PartyPoker's Mac version, so check it out by visiting PartyPoker.

Dan, I think you had a mix-up in your NoteCaddy Advantage write up. "All of our definitions and badges were made by an online professional with over 8 years of experience crushing 6-max NL cash games. He not only has an in-depth understanding of NoteCaddy and Holdem Manager, but also an extensive history in poker and what it takes to succeed." This is actually taken from the NoteCaddy Edge thread. Could you please fix this? Thank you, Goat NoteCaddy Edge
